Final Outcomes
I’ve really enjoyed creating my final samples for the
costume brief. When approaching the planning of my final samples I analysed my
collection of development samples I have created throughout the project I have
then selected the most successful explorations, and decided how I will refine
these techniques and incorporate them into my final outcomes. The queen of
hearts samples were really interesting as I have used alternative materials
like latex and combined these techniques with traditional beading techniques.
I also enjoyed
looking at the living hinge laser cutting techniques for my ‘Alice’ character’s
final outcomes as this was something I hadn’t explored before this project. I
also used sublimation printing to transfer digital designs inspired by my 60’s psychedelic
colour palette for the ‘Alice’ colour palette. I believe this worked well and
made my final outcomes look more refined and considered.
For my self-initiated brief my final samples used laser
cutting techniques I was already familiar with. I decided this due to the short
time scale to develop this project. I combined my laser cut samples with free
machine stitched digital prints that depict photo collages of plant cells and Florence
buildings that I have created using Photoshop. I feel these layered pieces
capture my theme of structure and pattern well. However, if I had more time I
would wish to explore how I could make these pieces more interactive, and fit
an instillation context.
