Tutorial- Thinking about Interactivity
In this tutorial it has really made me realise how important this time for personal feedback on my project work. It really helps guide my next steps in development, and keep a direct focus in the direction I want to drive my work. In this tutorial the next step of development towards the context of my work was a large focus of discussion.
Me and my tutor began by reviewing the work I have completed over the last week. We both thought my laser cut leather pieces were successful in the way they capture the structure of butterfly wings and armour. Though my tutor liked the grey, neutral colour of the leather (which could be seen as reflecting the colour of armour), we both agreed it would be interesting to pair this with bright colours. This would also help reflect the colours of butterfly markings.
A way that this could be achieved is by applying bondaweb to the back side of my leather a brighter coloured fabric. Perhaps something like my hand marbled fabric. This is something I aim to explore in the next week
The next aspect of the tutorial was focused on my works context. I discussed my interest in interactivity within my work, which lead to a discussion on how this could be achieved. We discussed exploring magnets and velcro to achieve this. My tutor suggested starting to play with my laser cut samples on the wall compositionally with magnets.
The last aspect we discussed was to start to create a visualisation for my work. What would my target audience be? Would researching interactive spaces help? Looking at different inspiration will definitely help bring focus into the context of work, and I aim to complete this research in the upcoming week and reflect upon this.
